A dwelling has been based here since Saxon times and is also mentioned in the Domesday Book. Today, at the heart of this beautiful village stands Cockington Court, which is also home to the Cockington Craft Studios where you can watch artists and craftsmen at work, including blacksmiths and glass blowers.
It is open all year round and there is no entry fee. There are also a multitude of circular walks around the grounds and the village.
It is the perfect retreat if you want to get away from it all and also an idyllic location for a cream tea, which can be enjoyed at Cockington Court itself or Rose Cottage in the centre of the village. Sir Edwin Lutyens was responsible for designing the Drum Inn, also in the heart of the village, and is a great place to enjoy a pub meal or unwind in the tranquil beer garden.
